This announcement is to inform you that we will be undergoing a migration to our new server this weekend commencing on Friday afternoon 11th November 2022. We estimate that this will take the entire weekend to complete but should be seamless as we will clone the server before the name servers are updated on Sunday pm.
OVERVIEW
This is a significant upgrade to a new high speed server with twice the capacity and performance from our existing server.
While our current server had been performing well, and has done for the last 4 years, we took the initiative to upgrade now rather than later to improve the overall speed, performance and reliability of our service.
For the geeks - this upgrade includes moving to full mirrored NVMe SSD drives (rather than the hybrid mix we have currently) which are reportedly 25 times faster than standard drives and 5 times faster than the normal SSD drive. We will also double our disk capacity and our CPU's clock speed which basically means it will be one hell of a fast machine! We are also implementing a separate backup server to a larger, faster & more reliable solution.
IN SUMMARY
While the cloning & migration should be seamless we may experience some slow loading of sites & emails during that time. We hope to finalise everything by Sunday afternoon and redirect the name server to the new datacentre well before Monday morning.
Please note that you will NOT need to do anything other than check everything is working from your end from Monday next week. We do apologise in advance if you do experience any slowdown or disruption during this time.
